Leadership

Fractional CMO Growth Frameworks

Someone senior owns the revenue number. Not a strategy deck, not a channel, the number. Two to five days a month, at roughly a third of what the same seniority costs full time.

What this covers

The scope

  • Ownership of one revenue number, reviewed weekly, not a set of deliverables
  • A 90 day plan worked backwards from the target, with what gets stopped named as clearly as what gets started
  • Positioning and pricing decisions, including for new service lines
  • Direction of your existing marketers and agencies, so you stop managing vendors
  • Attribution and reporting your board can read without translation
  • Systems and documentation that stay behind when the engagement ends

Investment

$8K to $20K per month

Scoped to the days per month the role needs. Project engagements run $15K to $75K. Hourly advisory runs $250 to $600 and is rare. Most engagements begin with a Growth Ceiling Evaluation, so scope is set against a diagnosis rather than a guess.

Start with an evaluation

How it works

What actually happens, in order

  1. 01

    Diagnose the constraint

Marketing stack, pipeline, team, competitors and unit economics, examined to find the one thing capping growth. Usually it is not the thing that was budgeted for.

  2. 02

    Build the 90 day plan

One revenue target, the channels that serve it, the resourcing it needs, and an explicit stop list. Written so anyone on the team can execute against it.

  3. 03

    Embed and run it

Two to five days a month inside your business, running standups, coaching marketers, holding agencies to outcomes, and making the calls that were waiting on someone senior.

  4. 04

    Prove it or change it

Monthly attribution against the target. Channels that are not paying get cut rather than defended, and the plan is rewritten around what is working.

I am not a tech person and when Google locked my business account I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Justin said he could help and took over. Several back/forth getting info from me about business....he stayed on top of it and kep me in the loop during the entire process. Alas....my business account is visible and working! Highly recommend Velocity Revenue Partners

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is a fractional CMO?

A senior chief marketing officer who works with your company part time, typically 2 to 5 days per month, instead of as a full time hire. Same strategic ownership, same revenue accountability, same team coaching, at roughly 30 to 40% of the cost.

Does fractional leadership actually work?

It fails in two predictable ways: the fractional leader is given advisory scope instead of decision authority, or nobody internally owns execution between sessions. Both are scoping problems, and both are settled in writing before an engagement starts. If the role cannot make decisions, it should not be filled fractionally.

What does a fractional CMO actually do?

Owns the marketing strategy tied to revenue, sits in leadership and board meetings, builds the 90 day roadmap, manages and coaches in house marketers and agencies, stands up attribution and reporting, and leads pricing, positioning and go to market for new service lines.

How much does a fractional CMO cost?

Most engagements land between $8K and $20K per month depending on scope. Hourly advisory runs $250 to $600 per hour and is rare. Project pricing runs $15K to $75K. Full detail is in the cost guide.

When should I hire a fractional CMO?

The clearest signal is the founder still functioning as the de facto CMO past $1M ARR. Other strong signals: plateaued growth despite increased spend, a marketing leader hire that did not work out, or a raise, launch or expansion 60 to 90 days out.

How is this different from an agency or a full time hire?

An agency executes inside one channel and cannot tell you the channel is the wrong problem. A full time CMO does everything this role does, costs $350K to $500K all in, and takes 6 to 9 months to find. Fractional sits between the two: full ownership, part time hours.

How long does it take to see revenue results?

Strategic impact inside 30 days, measurable revenue lift in 60 to 90 days, and compounding gains by month 6. Month 6 typically outperforms month 3 by a wide margin.

How much time will you spend with my team?

Typically 2 to 5 days per month, plus the standing meetings the role owns: a weekly pipeline review, a biweekly one on one with the CEO, a monthly executive performance review, and a quarterly board update.

Do you replace our existing team or agencies?

Rarely. Most engagements make the existing team and agencies more effective by giving them a strategy to execute against and someone senior holding them accountable to revenue.

Is fractional cmo leadership the right next move?

A short call. If it is not the right fit, I will say so and point you at what is.
